MANDOKAR: Women of Mandalore is a non-profit/charity fan anthology or fanzine focused on celebrating Mandalorian women throughout all eras of Star Wars.“Mandokar” is the Mando’a word for Mandalorian spirit, the epitome of Mando virtue: a blend of aggression, tenacity, loyalty, and a lust for life. This project aims to represent Mandalorian/Mandalorian adjacent women and how they embody those qualities.We welcome all expressions of womanhood and femininity, including trans women, nonbinary folks, femme, and butch identities.

What is a fanzine?Zines (derived from the word “magazines”) are traditionally self-published, non-commercial, non-professional publications created individually or collaboratively to share interests or ideas with others. Zines can cover a wide variety of topics and are often produced through low cost printing or DIY methods in limited batches. Fanzines similarly are self-published compendiums created to display a variety of work for a subject or theme in limited batches. Fanzines historically come from the same grassroots practices as indie zines and date back to the science fiction zines of the 1930s, but differ from indie zines in typically being not-for-profit and created by fandom enthusiasts with the purpose of celebrating what fans love. Contemporary fanzines are typically no longer made through DIY and low cost printing methods; some are digital only, some are print only, and some are both, and they are typically non-profit with the proceeds donated to charity.What content is allowed in the zine? Will Legends/EU be included? Are AUs permitted?This zine will focus on Mandalorian and Mandalorian adjacent women spanning all eras of Star Wars films, TV shows, animation, comics, and books, both from Canon and Legends/Expanded Universe. Please submit separate applications for each role you would like to apply for.What are contributors required to do?Accepted page artists are expected to create a 1 or 2 page illustration or comic for the zine. Merch artists are expected to create at least 1 or 2 merch items or merch sets each. Writers are expected to write 1 short story (1500-2000 words of length), piece of poetry, or short piece of meta.Can anyone apply to be a contributor? Is past zine experience needed?Anyone can apply, and no experience is needed!
